What Information We Collect and How We Collect It
When users, including children under 13, register and adopt a mixed up pet on mixedUPPETS.com, Genetipetz, LLC asks them to select a screen name (also referred to as a pet name) and a password; and to provide his or her parent or guardian's email address for children under 13. Users 13 or older will provide their own email address.
We limit the information we collect, both actively (i.e., what we ask kids) and passively (what we collect through use of web tracking mechanisms like "cookies") to that which is necessary for kids to take part in a particular mixedUPPETS game activity.
Genetipetz, LLC is the sole owner of the information collected on mixeduppets.com. Genetipetz, LLC collects personally identifiable information from our users at several different points on our Web site including registration and Customer Service contact queries.
To see how we use your information, go to “How Genetipetz Uses the Information it Collects“.

How Genetipetz Uses the Information it Collects
Upon activation of an account, the information submitted will be used by Genetipetz to adopt a personalized mixedUPPET and will allow the registered user to participate on the mixeduppets.com website, which contains a variety of interactive community features. Within those features, users are identified in the community by their screen name. This limited (and non-personal) identifying information, accompanied by a picture of their mixed up pet, will be displayed to the user's friends and others who have obtained the user's screen name. mixedUPPETS owners can make friends only if they know the other mixedUPPETS
owner's screen name, which they can find in a variety of ways, some examples include knowing the screen name through personal contact offsite, seeing the screen name if the other mixedUPPETS owner is mentioned in the Community section of the site (such as if they are the winner of the "mixedUPPET of the Week" competition, or they may have achieved something newsworthy in-game), or registered mixedUPPETS owners seeing screen names that are included in their friend's "friend list". It is also possible that the mixedUPPETS owner could guess a screen name. The recipient must accept the invitation before the two can communicate.
Once an invitation is accepted, the two become online "friends" and can see each other's friends lists, and can use the site to leave moderated messages (for example by posting a message to the friend's "mailbox"). We only allow predertermined text in the mailbox feature (a brief public, moderated message).
We also use the information that you give to us (including your contact information such as email address) to make our Services the best possible experience for you. For instance, we may use your information to:
- customize the Services you choose to receive
- manage your account and your support questions
- improve our Services
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations and protect our legitimate interests
- carry out research and analysis, training and quality assurance
- contact you with important service announcements
- if you agree, contact you about other Services and products from Genetipetz that we think may be of interest to you
If you want to read more about how our site operates, we encourage you to read our Parent's Page.
Please note, we may monitor, record, store and use any telephone call, email or other communication with you internally for training purposes and to improve the quality of our customer service.
Parents and legal guardians of kids under 13 who are members of mixeduppets.com have certain rights under COPPA, and Genetipetz recognizes those rights. Parents/guardians can consent to collection and use of a child's personally identifiable information (PII) without consenting to the disclosure of information to third parties. Currently the only identifiable information we collect from children is the parent email address. We will not knowingly register children under 13 years old on mixeduppets.com without parental consent. Without consent, a child under 13 cannot use any of the community features. If a parent does not provide consent, we will delete the information provided during the registration process within a reasonable time period.
A child's participation or access to an activity on our site is not conditioned on their providing more Personal Information than is reasonably necessary for the activity.
Parents/guardians can review information their children have contributed to mixeduppets.com, request that Genetipetz delete that information, and refuse to allow Genetipetz to collect further information from their kids by contacting our Customer Services department by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Parents should include their kid's mixedUPPETS Owner name and the registered (parent's) email address in the email so we can better assist them with their inquiry or request. Genetipetz may ask additional questions or take other steps to verify the identity of parents/guardians before responding to a request to review or delete their kid's information, or a request to refuse further collection from kids.

Genetipetz makes every reasonable effort to disallow and discourage users and kids from sharing personally identifying information with each other via the community features via a filter system and live moderators. The only information that can be openly shared in the mixeduppets.com community features are screen names (and kids are cautioned not to select their real names) and moderated messages. Users and kids who use the pin board features do have the opportunity to draft their own messages to their friends, but we do not prompt any site users to provide any identifying information about themselves.
